A Social Network Taxonomy

Amid a mass movement of users from Twitter to other platforms, Ethan Zuckerman proposes a new way of taxonomizing social networks using two axes of governance: who owns a platform, and whether it behaves as a singular space or one containing multiple rooms. Ultimately, in the post for New_ Public, Zuckerman proposes a pluriverse, defined as "a complex world of interoperable social networks where one can choose a technical architecture and governance structure appropriate to a community's needs."
